EDLSTv2: EPS Daily Land Surface Temperature, version 2

Demonstration              Product ID: LSA-002.2              Version: 2.0              Published: 2026

Product Description

Land Surface Temperature (LST) is the radiative skin temperature over land. LST plays an important role in the physics of land surface as it is involved in the processes of energy and water exchange with the atmosphere. The EDLSTv2 provides LST retrievals from clear-sky observations performed by AVHRR/Metop. The EDLSTv2 is estimated from 10.8 and 12.0 µm infrared channels using a Generalized Split-Window algorithm and cloud information from the NWC SAF. Total Column Water Vapour from ERA-5 (CDR) and ECMWF forecasts (NRT) is used to perform the atmospheric correction. Emissivity is derived using the V-TES algorithm. Data is aggregated into daytime and nighttime overpasses, at around 9h30AM/PM local time.

CDR Data is also available as hourly aggregations over the North and South poles in a 1km polar stereographic projection -> download here
