IODC MLSTv2: MSG-IODC Land Surface Temperature, version 2

Demonstration              Product ID: LSA-004.2              Version: 2.0              Published: 2026

Product Description

Land Surface Temperature (LST) is the radiative skin temperature over land. LST plays an important role in the physics of land surface as it is involved in the processes of energy and water exchange with the atmosphere. The MLSTv2 provides LST retrievals from clear-sky observations performed by SEVIRI/MSG. The MLSTv2 is estimated from 10.8 and 12.0 µm infrared channels using a Generalized Split-Window algorithm and cloud information from the NWC SAF. Total Column Water Vapour from ERA-5 (CDR) and ECMWF forecasts (NRT) is used to perform the atmospheric correction. Emissivity is derived using the V-TES algorithm and is available in the MEMv2 product, which is distributed via the Data Server at the same location as the LST.

This product is currently under review and is available only as Demonstration.
