Release of MTG Fire Radiative Power product as demonstration

LSA SAF announces a significant step in the exploration of the new Meteosat Third Generation (MTG) with the release of the MTG Fire Radiative Power (FRP) product.
Compared with the existing MSG FRP product, the MTG FRP product delivers a substantial improvement in spatial resolution (from 3 km in MSG to 1 km), while also benefiting from the enhanced fire detection capabilities of the FCI sensor on board MTG.
The product is currently released in demonstration status, meaning that its operational availability is not fully guaranteed. Scientific validation is ongoing, and the official product review has not yet been performed.
Key characteristics:
- Spatial resolution: 1 km
- Timeliness: Up to 45 minutes, typically around 20 minutes
- Temporal frequency: Every 10 minutes
